Nurture

The United Methodist Book of Discipline specifies nurturing ministries of a congregation to include Christian Education, Worship, Christian formation, membership care, small groups, and stewardship.

At Belden UMC, we have many opportunities for family members of all ages to nurture their faith and grow in knowledge.

Worship

Sunday Morning worship is a blend of what most would label as traditional and contemporary. But those words are not very descriptive as each church's traditional and contemporary mode is often quite different, so... what can you anticipate?

At 10:20 am, you'll enter the sanctuary and hear music and singing of songs you might hear on the radio. You'll find people's attire to run the gamut - from casual shorts, jeans and t-shirts to skirts & suits.

At 10:30, when worship more "officially" begins, you'll hear some popular praise songs, mixed with an older hymn or two. You will be formally welcomed and hear announcements for upcoming events, a bit about events just past, and share in the celebration of events in the lives of our members.

As the children come forward for Children's Moment, we greet each other in Christian love - with "Good morning!", handshakes and/or hugs all around. While the Children's Moment is given, the offering plates are passed to support our wonderful ministries and as thanks to God for all we have been blessed with.

Scriptures are read, prayers are lifted, Special music is heard and a message is given. One more closing song of praise and we conclude worship with many lingering afterward to talk and spend time in community with each other.

At Belden, like the Methodist church as a whole, we have an open table and all are welcome to share in celebrating with us the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month.

Christian Education

Sunday School

From 9:15-10:15 we have Christian Education classes for all ages - ranging from preschool-aged children to adults (or wise and well-seasoned as some of our members might put it).
